Framer Introduces Variable Fonts Support and Font Picker

Framer has rolled out comprehensive Variable Fonts support across its platform, marking a significant upgrade to its typography system. The redesigned Font Picker now features dedicated sections for Google Fonts, Fontshare, and Variable fonts, complete with improved filtering for both web and custom fonts.

The update places Variable font controls directly in the property panel alongside OpenType features. Different typefaces now offer varying degrees of customization - from extensive options in fonts like Roboto Flex to core adjustments for Width, Weight, and Slant in others.

This enhancement integrates seamlessly with Framer's existing typography features, including Fit Text, Text Balance, Text Effects, Text Masking, and OpenType capabilities. Most notably, Variable Fonts can now be animated through Component Variants and Interactions, enabling more dynamic typography design possibilities.
